Yes, you can send cryptocurrency from the Ledger Live Mobile app, but you need your Ledger device connected and unlocked. All transactions require physical verification on your Ledger device screen for security. The mobile app facilitates the process, but the device signs the transactions.
Is the mobile app free to use? +
Yes, the Ledger Live Mobile app is completely free to download and use. There are no subscription fees, in-app purchases, or hidden costs. Some services like buying crypto may have standard processing fees from the service providers, but the app itself is free.
Do I need a Ledger device to use the mobile app? +
You can use the app in read-only mode to view your portfolio without a device, but for any actions involving your funds (sending, buying, staking), you need a Ledger hardware wallet. The app is designed as a companion to Ledger devices, not a standalone software wallet.
How does Bluetooth security work with Nano X? +
The Bluetooth connection between your Nano X and mobile app is encrypted end-to-end. More importantly, all sensitive operations (transaction signing) still require physical confirmation on the Nano X screen. The Bluetooth connection only transmits encrypted data and cannot move funds without your explicit approval on the device.
Can I use the mobile app with Nano S Plus? +
Yes, but with limitations. On Android, you can use a USB OTG cable to connect your Nano S Plus directly. On iOS, Nano S Plus cannot connect to mobile devices. For full mobile functionality, Nano X with Bluetooth is recommended.
What happens if I lose my phone with the app installed? +
Your funds remain completely safe. The mobile app only has read-only access and contains no private keys. Even if someone accesses your phone, they can only view your portfolio balances, not move any funds. Simply install the app on your new phone and reconnect your Ledger device.
